PLAYERS AND TEAM--MAKE UP AND POSITIONS 

TEAM COMPOSITION AND SUBSTITUTIONS: The Tournament Director shall be given a roster of all team players, the team caption and any substitutes before the start of each match. Any players not listed on the roster before a match shall not be allowed to play.

RULES OF THE GAMES: All team members are required to know the rules of the game and abide by them.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: Each team shall be composed of two (2), three (3) or four (4) persons. Each team shall be allowed one substitute or alternate player. When a team has been reduced to less than the allotted number of players, a substitution may be called, the game may be forfeited or the game may continue with remaining players, i.e. two (2) against three (3), three (3) against four (4) (must continue to play by 4 person rules).

PLAYER DIVISIONS: Teams entering league or tournament play shall be classified into one of the following divisions: 
Open, Advanced, Intermediate and Novice.
a) Men’s 2, 3 or 4 player teams.
b) Women’s 2, 3 or 4 player teams.
c) Coed 2, 3 or 4 player teams

SUBSTITUTION: A position of a substitute shall be that of the player replaced without change in service order. Two substitutions per game are permitted. Only in case of injury, can a player make a third entry substitute in a different position. A substitution may only be made when the ball is dead and upon request of the playing caption. Once the referee acknowledges a substitution, the substitute is required to report in proper uniform and stand ready to enter the court when directed by the referee. A new substitution may not take place until play has resumed and the ball becomes dead or another time-out is called.

FOUR PERSON PLAY: In four (4) person play, the server on offense or defense cannot spike or block the ball, fake either one or even attempt either one.
